IELTS Speaking topic: Plans & Goals

02/02/20152 minute read

1. Please summarise your plans for the near future.
2. When do you plan to start that?
3. How do you intend to achieve that?
4. When you go abroad, do you plan to live in the countryside or a big city? (Why?)
5. Do you plan to spend many years overseas?
6. After you go abroad, do you plan to join any clubs?

Well, I plan to immigrate to Australia in the near future and settle down there, starting a new life. And in long term I would like to set up my own business and to be successful. Thanks to my family, my parents have really encouraged me a lot while I had been studying English.

Honestly, the idea hit on me two years ago when I was travelling in Australia for ten days in the end of 2012. That experience really inspired my enthusiasm to move there because the natural environment was so clean and stunning compared with the ones in Beijing. In addition, the people there were very warm and friendly. Every time when I lost my way in the bustling city centre in Sydney or Melbourne, the strangers were always willing to help me, guiding me the right direction with their iPhones to be exact. Therefore, when I came back to Beijing, I started to plan to immigrate to Australia.

Well, if I were to choose between the two, I will probably go with living in the countryside because I believe it’s a typical lifestyle of people in the Western countries, so I want to experience the tranquil and serene life; whereas, you know, living in big city is annoying and I have to take up high living pressure.

I intend to live in Adelaide for two years in order to get the visa. I might stay longer if I can find a job there and acclimatise myself living there afterwards.

Oh yes, I’m into joining some local clubs to pursue my personal hobbies such as photography and hiking. You know, the main factor is that club activities can enrich my spare time with lots of happiness and positive experience, and also can help me meet new friends and get familiar with the local community.
