My view is that both qualities are valuable in different job contexts, and a balanced recruitment approach should be adopted.
First, it is obvious that innovation and independence are crucial in certain industries. This is because creative employees can come up with original ideas and are often able to solve complex problems without constant supervision. For example, in sectors such as technology, design or scientific research, companies rely heavily on employees who can take initiative, work alone, and propose new solutions. As a result, these traits are often considered essential for driving progress and maintaining competitiveness.
Moreover, actually, the ability to work in a team and follow instructions is equally important in many working environments. For instance, in large corporations, manufacturing plants or customer service departments, employees are often expected to cooperate with others and follow standard procedures. By recognising the strengths of each group and assigning roles accordingly, companies can maximise their human resources.
In sum, both innovation and teamwork play an indispensable role in a company’s success. Instead of focusing solely on one trait, recruiters should evaluate candidates based on the nature of the position and the overall needs of the organisation. Only by doing so can businesses maintain creativity and efficiency at the same time.
