IELTS Writing: Young leader

29/01/20152 minute read

Leaders or directors of organisations are often older people, but some people say that young people can also be a leader. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, there are more and more opportunities for the young people to realise their career success. However, some people stick to the opinion that the elders would be the best ones for higher position, while others, one the other hand, argue that the youth should have the equal chance to be a leader. I think the last one would not hold much water.

Firstly, it is obvious that the old people have abundant working experience and sufficient professional knowledge to cope with the complex problems occur in their daily work. For example, a person with years of painstaking work would have a flawless blueprint for the future work which can prevent the foolish mistake the younger one would make in their plan.

Moreover, the elders have more strong sense of responsibilities with their job. This is because they are the irreplaceable experts on certain areas who have the excellent cooperation and coordination abilities when they face big challenges in the work and that would be in chaos if the young staff do the same one.

However, that is not to say that the young people should not be in the position of leadership at all. There is no denying the fact that the majority of the adolescent tend to strive for self-betterment and self-reality in the workplace. Therefore, they would accomplish their mission more efficiently and effectively.

In sum, the seniors would be more suitable to be a leader and they can not be replaced readily even if the younger are excellent. Forcing them to retire from their job would be a unreasonable and unacceptable practise.
